Proven experience in a fast paced catering environment, has had extensive experience in the hospitality or restaurant industry, and is passionate about customer service, presentation, and the event experience. This person must have a strong work ethic and efficient, can work long hours, and can manage the challenges of a fast paced catering environment.
Must have excellent communication skills, including both written and verbal. This person must be detail oriented, a self-starter, and can multi-task. This person must also have excellent time management skills, knows how to prioritize, and can work well under pressure. Events will take place throughout the bay area; ability to efficiently calculate travel time to guarantee appropriate arrival times a must. As everyone knows in the catering business, time moves very quickly on the day of event, while most details have been ironed out prior, inevitably some items get missed. This person must be seasoned and experienced to be resourceful to ensure missing items can be located prior to the event. Flexibility and adaptability to changing environments is key. Bartending experience a plus.
Finally, this person must be passionate about the catering business, be personable, and efficient. Catered events are special events and we strive to make every event memorable! In addition, the person must have the following minimum qualifications:
• Experience – At least 1 year experience in catering or hotel hospitality environment. This position requires a valid drivers license, reliable transportation, requires individual to carry at least 50 lbs, and will require a lot of lifting, walking, and standing. Must have a valid California ServSafe certification (www.servsafe.com).
• Reliable / Efficient – This person must be extremely reliable by showing up on time and maintain appropriate dress code for the specified events (typically all black or black / white). This person be able to work a complete event by being efficient and at times, self-reliant. This person must be resourceful and be able to setup a site with the resources available. The final setup must be visually appealing, organized and clean. We eat with our eyes first – everything should be beautiful.
• Communication Skills – This person must have excellent verbal and written skills. This person must be able to effectively communicate with the client, kitchen staff, chef, and owner. This person must having strong working knowledge using computers and iPads and using software such as Microsoft Office, catering software, and email. This person must have a pleasant demeanor, a positive attitude, and a can do work ethic. Must have regular access to e-mail for scheduling purposes.
• Detailed Oriented – This person must be detailed oriented, well organized and has the ability to understand all site details of the event and ensure that all details assigned to them are handled.
